About

The SAKSHAM CLUB is a dynamic and student-driven technical club under the Department of Mechanical Engineering, established with the aim of fostering innovation, skill development, and holistic growth among mechanical engineering students. The club serves as a platform to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications through hands-on activities, workshops, and real-world problem-solving.

Mission

“To inspire and nurture the spirit of innovation, technical excellence, and hands-on learning among mechanical engineering students by creating opportunities for practical skill development, interdisciplinary collaboration, and industry-oriented exposure.”

Along with this the club also has a mission to inculcate moral values in each student so that students can “Think Wisely, Speak politely and Act Nicely”

Vision

  • “To Foster innovation and skill development among mechanical engineering students by bridging the gap between academic and theory and practical industry challenges.”

Objectives

  • To promote interest in core mechanical engineering domains like design, manufacturing, thermodynamics, robotics, and automotive engineering.
  • To provide a space for students to work on interdisciplinary projects and technical competitions (Like, SAE, Go-Kart, Robo RACE).
  • To enhance technical skills through seminars, industrial visits, guest lectures, and training programs.
  • To encourage peer learning and collaboration through team-based projects and events.

Core Activities

  • Workshops & Seminars: CAD/CAM, 3D printing, CNC machining, Solid Works/ ANSYS, etc. to provide them the practical knowledge of the machines which will help them in future.
  • Project Showcases: Annual project exhibitions and model-making contests in which students can showcase their innovative and creative project ideas.
  • Technical Events: Quizzes, paper presentations, and design competitions to help students to get well aware of the importance of paper presentations and designs in industry.
  • Industrial Visits: Tours to manufacturing plants and thermal power stations, this helps students to get an understanding of the environment in which they are going to work.
  • Social Initiatives: Involvement in community outreach through engineering solutions, this activity help students gets more socialize with others which helps them build their character and confidence in speaking.

Membership criteria and instruction to join the club

Students must fulfill the criteria to be the part of the club which is as follows:

  • Students from any branch are eligible to take membership of the club.

Past Events

Summary

This visit which took place in Imperial auto industries enhanced the understanding of industrial workflows, team coordination, and the real-time challenges of large-scale production. It was an eye-opening experience that reinforced the importance of technical skills, discipline, and continuous innovation in engineering.

The visit took place on October 31, 2023.

Summary

This was the two days training program on career Guidance and Skill Development conducted by the department of mechanical engineering. This was held on 1st and 2nd of November 2023 for the students of Second, Third and Fourth year.

Some of the Glimpse of the training can be taken from the pictures:

The seminar held in celebration of National Science Day aimed to honor the contributions of Indian scientists and to raise awareness about the importance of science in everyday life.

Organized on February 28, the seminar brought together students, teachers, researchers, and science enthusiasts.

The lecture on Thermal Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation highlighted the critical role of efficient energy use in industrial processes, particularly in sectors such as power generation, cement, steel, and chemicals, which account for a large share of India’s total energy consumption. The session focused on strategies for improving thermal efficiency through technological upgrades, process optimization, and waste heat recovery systems.

This lecture took place on 17th February 2022 in Stepper Hall on the 5th floor of BBDITM Building. Some glimpse of the lecture is shown here:

Future Events
The SAKSHAMCLUB of mechanical department is excited to announce a dynamic lineup of events for the upcoming semester, aimed at fostering innovation, collaboration, and hands-on learning among students.

The head and members of the club are planning to hold a talk on different types of technologies around the world.

The department is planning trips to leading manufacturing units and mechanical workshops to provide students with real-world exposure of the industries.

Many students have interest in studying abroad but they lack the correct guidance and resources. Keeping this view the club is also contacting some of the best students of the campus who are studying abroad to provide an insight on this topic.

The SAKSHAM Club is planning to organize an engaging Workshop and Interactive Session aimed at fostering practical learning and peer collaboration among students. The event brought together enthusiasts from various academic years to explore hands-on mechanical concepts, tools, and real-world applications.

The session began with a brief introduction to the theme, followed by a workshop led by senior club members and faculty mentors. Topics covered included CAD modeling, 3D printing, and basic prototyping. Participants were guided through each process, encouraging active involvement and real-time problem solving.
